On 16 November 2024, Palheiro Golf hosted a memorable event: the President’s Trophy.

This tournament was a tribute to Duarte Rodrigues’ 10 years of dedication as President of our club, a decade marked by achievements and continuous growth.

Despite a rainy morning, the sun ended up shining, providing excellent conditions for the 80 participants, including members of the Madeira’s golf clubs, who competed in the Texas Scramble format in teams of two, with shotgun starts at 09h00.

The big moment of the day was played by our member Élia Handa, who shone with an impressive hole-in-one on the 11th hole, on her very first hole. But the story doesn’t end there! This extraordinary feat marks Élia’s second hole-in-one in the same week, having already achieved the same feat on hole 3 last Thursday.

After 29 years of dedication to golf at Palheiro, these were her first hole-in-ones on our course – a true combination of talent, persistence and a touch of luck that will go down in the club’s history.

After the tournament, the participants gathered at the Vista Balancal Restaurant for a social lunch, followed by the prize-giving ceremony. The event also included a fantastic snack, enriched by the generous contributions of some members, who offered delicious delicacies to share.
